LACHLAN RIVER DREAMING TOUR
FORBES NSW

Now, more than any time before, we need to come together to conserve inland rivers for future generations.

We may not be around to hear them say thank you, but they will be forever grateful

The Galari (Lachlan River) has been central to life for Wiradjuri people for millennia. Come on a journey to discover their intimate connection with this unique waterway and learn about the current issues that are impacting on the health of this once mighty river.

Australia’s fourth longest river, the Lachlan terminates in the wetlands of the Great Cumbung Swamp except under periods of high flow when it connects with the Murrumbidgee river between Hay and Balranald. Home to several nationally important wetlands, it provides habitat to a variety of native freshwater fish, several of which are listed as endangered including the little known Southern Pygmy Perch, Olive Perchlet and Purple-spotted Gudgeon. The river is also home to the Critically Endangered Hanley River Snail, recently re-discovered and previously thought to be extinct within the system.
